Ice skating
Ice skating in the Maltatal
Slide into holiday happiness
Experience in the Maltatal has taught us that youngsters in particular love to whizz through the winter landscape on two runners. Because ice skating guarantees more fun than almost any other sport. Even with mum and dad. That is for sure.
How good that the Maltatal also pays attention to this hobby. Depending on the weather conditions, the Tripphube ice skating area offers a welcome change for beginners to the ice princess. And you can also pursue the sport of ice hockey there. A “timetable”, which is posted on the site, gives details of the times that belong to the ice hockey players and those that allow jumps and pirouettes.

Ice climbing
Climbing Valley Maltatal
A paradise for ice climbers
If you don’t want to miss out on your beloved climbing sport even in winter, the best place to go is the Malta Valley. Numerous ice-climbing hotspots will make your fingertips tingle as soon as you arrive.
The “valley of tumbling waters” is a familiar name to every ice climber and is known above all for its versatility. Most of the waterfalls are easily accessible and avalanche-proof in normal snow conditions. Professionals get their money’s worth here as well as those climbers who are on the ice for the first time. On request, there is also the possibility in the Malta Valley to be introduced to the world of ice climbing by an expert.
The following applies to outdoor sports enthusiasts:
*Get information from the PES, mountain rescue or tourist information.
*Think and adapt your behavior
*Accept restricted areas and do not simply enter or drive on them.
*We urge locals to lead by example.
*Public trail facilities can and should be used
*Dogs must be on a leash without exception
*Inquire about parking options
(Private driveways, private parking lots, and access roads to wildlife feeding areas must be kept clear.)Some icefalls are located on private land that is primarily used for hunting and forestry. In order to prevent conflicts between ice climbers and landowners or people authorized to hunt and to protect the interests of both groups in the future, we ask all guests, visitors and locals to follow the rules. Only in this way can we guarantee that we will be able to ensure a mutual cooperation between forestry, hunting, agriculture and tourism in the future as well. Please pay attention to prohibition signs, instructions on how to behave in nature and please use only public parking spaces.

Winter and snowshoe hiking
Winter and snowshoe hiking in the Maltatal
Explore the winter mountain world on foot
Even in winter the hiking fun in the Maltatal does not stop. The only difference to summer is the equipment. During the cold season, this is combined with a few extra layers of warm clothes and – if you like – robust snowshoes.
Whether you want to take a relaxing stroll through the fairytale winter landscape of the Malta Valley, or discover the unspoilt nature off the prepared paths – in the Malta Valley there are many possibilities for a “hiking” pastime.
Stomp through the unique landscape and make a stop to build snowmen with your offspring. Or take another (snowshoe) step further and let an experienced guide show you the mountain world. Either way: Enjoy the silence, breathe the soothing mountain air and simply get away from it all.
